Saw Palmetto is a fan-palm tree native to the southeastern region of the United States. Saw Palmetto berries have been traditionally used for centuries to treat symptoms associated with enlarged prostate glands, urinary tract infections, and hair loss.
Among its many benefits, Saw Palmetto is believed to inhibit DHT formation, which is responsible for hair follicle miniaturization leading to baldness in men. Furthermore, it is shown to reduce inflammation and swelling in the prostate gland, improving urinary flow and reducing symptoms associated with BPH or benign prostatic hyperplasia in older men.
Studies suggest that Saw Palmetto has similar effects as Proscar (Finasteride), a medication commonly used to treat enlarged prostate glands but without its harmful side effects such as impotence and low libido.
